AESS Education

You are here

Our efforts in education center on two initiatives: the Distinguished Lecture and Tutorial Program, and our Video Education Initiative.  The Distinguished Lecture and Tutorial Program offers a roster of engineering experts available to lecture throughout the world at AESS local chapter and IEEE section meetings. AESS reimburses the lecturer for travel expenses up to the financial limits established by the AESS Board of Governors. The lectures are typically one hour in length, tutorials are longer and deeper expositions.  Distinguished Lecturer/Tutorial speakers are selected based on the perceived interests of AESS membership and the availability of a recognized expert in the field who agrees to lecture on the selected subject.  With the Video Education Initiative, we are endeavoring to develop and build up a robust, web-based, technical learning center that is tailored to meet the educational needs of the members of our Society, both the student members and the professional members, and do that at no cost to AESS members.

The Education Committee solicits your help and active participation.  We need more people to volunteer as tutorial speakers and lecturers.  Let us know about a colleague who would be a great speaker.  And, if you have any ideas, or would like to volunteer in any way, please contact me. You can also contact anyone on the Education Committee.  Thank you very much.
