Outgoing AESS President Passes the Gavel

You are here

The Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society is blessed with excellent members and leaders who daily advance technology for humanity through their work in industry, academe, government, and in association with other professional organizations. For example, the Society runs highly successful technical conferences; publishes important transactions and our high quality magazine; increases its Chapters and Student Branches; and revitalized our technical panels; added new educational offerings; sent Distinguished Lecturers across the globe; and continually recognizes the technical and leadership achievements of our members through awards and elevation to Senior Member and Fellow of the IEEE, as well as to higher level IEEE Positions. Two of the AESS Board of Governors members who have been instrumental in leading the Society over the past few years were elected to be the new AESS President and Executive Vice President so they can bring their vision for AESS to fruition. Dr. Teresa Pace has moved from the Executive Vice President to President. In her earlier job she led our strategic planning effort, and she will now oversee that plan's execution and extension into new domains. Teresa has strong ties with industry, but she also has outstanding capabilities in publications used by all segments of our membership. Her Executive Vice President is Dr. Joe Fabrizio, our former Vice President for Education. Joe works in the Australian government, and he maintains tight relationships with technical experts in many countries. Joe did an exceptional job in modernizing our Distinguished Lecture program and overall educational portfolio, and he is well placed to energize our outreach to IEEE Region 10 where or Board structure is light on representation. Teresa and Joe are the right team to lead the Society's new and continuing Board members and Officers. I very much appreciate the opportunity to have served AESS in several positions, especially as President. I can assure you Teresa and Joe are more than ready to show us the new way forward, and I am ready to go where they take the Society!

Best wishes to AESS for a successful 2016!

  Sincerely, Bob Lyons, AESS President
