Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Technical Panel Chair, Vince Socci, presented an Ignite talk at Sections Congress in Sydney, Australia in August, 2017.  He highlighted the AESS UAS/UAV Technical Panel efforts.  The talk is on IEEE TV.

CHARTER    

ARTICLE I:  NAME
The name of this organization shall be Unmanned Aerospace Vehicles Panel and shall be referred to herein as the UAV Panel.

ARTICLE II:  AFFILATIONS   
The UAV Panel is a technical panel of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic System Society.

ARTICLE III:  PURPOSE
The purpose of UAV panel shall be to sponsor and provide a forum for discussion, development, and rapid dissemination of technical information within the scope of UAV engineering interests and encompassed by unmanned aerial vehicles and systems technologies.

ARTICLE IV:  ORGANIZATION
The UAV panel shall be composed of representatives of industry, government laboratories, educational institutions, and professional societies who are involved in UAV systems.  Committees shall be formed on different aspects of UAV’s.

The Panel elects a Chairperson, and each committee shall elect a Vice-Chairperson.   Elections shall be held at the first meeting every two years. 

Membership in the Panel is open to all IEEE-AESS members who wish to participate.  International participation is encouraged due to the global benefit of this panel.

ARTICLE V:  OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this Panel shall be represented as the objectives of the individual committees.

Field of Interest

“The field of interest shall be the organization, systems engineering, design, development, integration, and operation of complex systems for space, air, ocean, or ground environments. These systems include but are not limited to navigation, avionics, mobile electric power and electronics, radar, sonar, telemetry, military, law-enforcement, automatic test, simulators, and command and control."
