Gyro and Accelerometer Panel

Technical Committee Menu

Scope

Primary focus is to develop standards (including terminology, specification formats, and test procedures) and to promote understanding of components and systems for detection or measurement of linear or angular motion. The GAP develops and maintains a growing body of inertial sensor and system standards; 14 published standards and a standard for the Specification of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) about to be published.

The Panel is composed of representatives of industry, government laboratories, educational institutions, and professional societies who are knowledgeable of the characteristics, operating principles, sources of error, and areas of application of these components.

The Gyro and Accelerometer Panel meets for two days every two months. For information on the venue for the next meeting, please visit the panel web page on the IEEE server.
