Host: IEEE AESS Utah Section Joint Chapter

Event Date: 10 May 2024

Event Format: Hybrid

Event Summary: Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra presented the IEEE AESS Distinguished Lecture titled "Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces for Radar and Communications" at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. The event was organized by the AESS Utah Section Chapter on 10 May 2024. The talk focused on applications of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) to radar, wireless communications, and joint radar communications. The lecture also included deep learning-based techniques for RIS inverse design. The talk was accompanied by a lively and engaging Q&A session between the audience and the speaker. The event lasted nearly 2.5 hours. This was a very memorable DL tour. I am thankful to both the current chair Jason Flint and former chair Chad Kidder for their warm hospitality and impeccable organization of the talk and visit. They were quick to communicate all the necessary details for the visit and even gave suggestions for activities after the DL event. I highly recommend visiting this chapter to other AESS DLs.
