AESS India Initiatve Update: December 2023

During March 2022 BoG Meeting, AESS India Initiative was approved. 599 additional members are added in AESS in India with this total AESS Membership in India stands at 754 as on Dec 9, 2023.  This is big achievement within 21 months of roll out of AESS India Membership Initiative which shows a staggering growth of 486% in membership. With this more than 12% of AESS Members are from India and Bangalore Chapter (my parent chapter) is world’s largest AESS Chapter with 282 Members. A new AESS section Chapter is opened in IEEE Delhi Section during Dec 2023, with this 7 out of 13 sections have AESS Section chapter. The total number of Student Branch Chapters in India is now 28.

A chapter Chair Meeting was organized on Nov 1, 2023 at Hotel Sterlings Mac, Bangalore where more than 18 chapters from India participated. Mr. Lorenzo Lo Monte VP-Member services, AESS gave a detailed presentation on opportunities available at AESS for the chapters..

Preliminary Design Review of Distributed Sensing Technology and Education Initiative (DSTEI) was organized at NMIT, Bangalore where both NMIT AESS SBC and SPIT AESS SBC presented their progress report and tutorial from AESS was conducted. Dr. Mark E Davis, Michal Brass, Vincent Socci, Lorenzo Le Monte gave their tutorials during Oct 29, 30 and Nov 1, 2023. AESS leadership was felicitated by NMIT, Bangalore.

Integrated Sensing and Communication(ISAC) Workshop was organized on Nov 2, 2023 at Hotel Sterlings Mac, Bangalore India as part of ISAC Initiative led by Prof. Sabrina Greco, AESS President Elect.  Prof. K V S Hari, IISc, Dr. K V Misra, AFRL and Dr. Shobha Sunder Ram, IIITD delivered their talks on various topics of ISAC.

Mr. Puneet Kumar Mishra,  BoG, IEEE AESS has inaugurated 2 AESS Student chapters namely: IEEE UVCE and IEEE MIT on Dec 7 and 9, 2023 respectively.
