Dr Jason L. Williams received degrees of B.E. (electronics) (first class honours) and B.Inf.Tech. from Queensland University of Technology, M.S.E.E. from the United States Air Force Institute of Technology, and Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked for several years as an engineering officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, before joining Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Group (formerly Defence Science and Technology Organisation), where he is currently a senior research scientist. He is also an adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Adelaide. His research interests include target tracking, sensor resource management, Markov random fields and convex optimisation. He has published 30 conference and journal articles, a book chapter and a book. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, and has received awards including the DST Group Science Excellence Award, the DSTO Award for Outstanding Contributions to Defence Outcomes, the Defence Materiel Organisation Divisional Achievement Award, and the Air Force Institute of Technology Mervin E. Gross and Commandant’s Awards.
