Prof. Xiaopeng Yang received B.E. and M.E. degrees from Xidian University, China, and Ph.D. degree from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1999, 2002 and 2007. From 2007 to 2008, he was a Postdoctoral Research fellow in Tohoku University, Japan. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Research Associate in Syracuse University, USA. Since April 2010, he has been with the School of Information and Electronics, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), China, where he has been a full professor since 2016. He is the chair of Radar Research Laboratory, the deputy director of Innovative Discipline Base of Radar Technology and the representative of faculty congress of BIT.

His research interests include radar signal processing and phased array radar. He developed the robust wideband jamming and Clutter suppression methods which have been applied the practical phased array radar system. His work on the Penetrating wall Radar and GPR has obtained the support by the key projects of NSFC and state. In recent 5 years, he has successfully achieved more than 30 million CNY research funding, and he has published over 100 academic papers including 8 invited talks, and authorized 10 National Invention Patents of China. He was awarded the outstanding scientific and technical award of Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) in 2015, the excellent committee award of Radar Society of CIE in 2016, the excellent young scholar awards of BIT in 2010 and 2012, and the excellent faculty awards of BIT in 2015 and 2017, and the excellent supervisor awards of BIT in 2013, 2015 and 2016, respectively. He also received the three best paper awards of IET international radar conference in 2015 and the National Radar Conference of China in 2012 and 2017.

Prof. Yang is member of IEEE AESS Radar System Panel, the BOG of China Radar Industry Association, the BOG of the Chinese society of Technical and Vocational education, and the BOG of Young Scientists Club of CIE, and the advisory committee member of IEEE Macau AP/MTT Joint Chapter. He is the standing committee member and the deputy general secretary of Radar Society of CIE, the deputy director of radar society of BIE. He is also the director of signal processing committee of Radar Society of CIE, and the committee member of signal processing society of CIE. He is experts of Evaluation Committees of NSFC, National key Project of Science and Technology of China, and China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest. He is also Guest Editor of IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, editorial board members of Journal of Radars, Journal of Modern Radar and Journal of Signal Processing. He is the TPC chairs of IEEE international conference on Signal, information and data processing 2019, IET international radar conference 2013, international forum on advanced radar and signal processing 2018 and Sino-Europe workshop on Weather Radar 2014. He is also the organizing committee Chair and the TPC co-chair of IET international radar conference 2018 and 2015, the co-chair of organizing committee of youth academic conference of CIE 2015.
