Michael Sievers is a Senior Systems Engineer and Systems Architect at Caltech’s Jet Propulsion
Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Southern California,
where he teaches classes in MBSE, system architectures, and engineering resilience. At JPL, he is
responsible for the design and fault handling of spacecraft and ground systems, system CONOPs, end-to-
end information systems, and high-performance spacecraft computer architectures. He also conducts
cybersecurity research focusing on trust and reputation, model-based systems engineering, and
resilience. Dr. Sievers is an INCOSE Fellow, AIAA Associate Fellow, and IEEE Senior Member. He has
authored or co-authored more than 50 journal and conference papers.
