Ms. Jill I. Gostin is a Principal Research Scientist in the Software Engineering and Architecture Division of GTRI’s Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Lab. She has worked at GTRI since 1985, where her work has focused on systems engineering, algorithm assessment and software testing and evaluation, specifically related to sensor systems. Her work has encompassed multiple sensors (radar, sonar, IR) and multiple sponsors over her many years of experience. She has authored or co-authored over 30 technical papers, has won multiple technical and service awards including a Certificate of Appreciation from the Missile Defense Agency, has managed large technical programs, was instrumental in creating an acoustic target and environment simulation, and has successfully developed fractal geometry applications for radar target detection. In November, 2016, Ms. Gostin was named the Women in Technology Woman of the Year for mid-size businesses. This award recognizes women technology executives for their accomplishments as leaders in business, as visionaries of technology, and who make a difference in their community. Ms Gostin serves on the Board of Directors of IEEE (2020-2021), the IEEE Future Directions Committee, and as the Ombudsman for the IEEE Computer Society, among many other IEEE roles. She received her BA in Mathematics from Greenville College and her MS in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
