TAES Appoints New Editor-in-Chief Gokhan Inalhan

In January 2023, Gokhan Inalhan, previously TAES Associate EiC, was appointed TAES EiC by the AESS Board of Governors. Gokhan is currently BAE Systems Chair, Professor of Autonomous Systems and Artificial at Cranfield University. Lyudmila Mihaylova will serve as the new Associate EiC.

Thank you, Michael Rice!

AESS and TAES would like to thank former EiC (2018-2022), Michael Rice, for his tremendous efforts and leadership over the last five years. He oversaw tremendous growth for the Transactions as the editorial board grew by 50% and the number of published papers doubled. Such growth provides a number of challenges to maintaining quality. Michael developed innovative processes to train incoming associate editors and manage expectations. He also oversaw the transition of the paper review system to the ScholarOne Manuscript Central portal. These initiatives significantly reduced the review timelines. The average submission to online post timeline for TAES is now in the top quartile of all IEEE journals at less than 32 weeks. During his tenure the impact factor has grown from 1.975 to 3.491. Again, we are thankful to Michael’s stewardship of the Transactions over the past five years. (Written by VP Publications, Lance Kaplan)
