Salman Liaquat is a dedicated researcher and a Graduate Research Assistant at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where he is currently pursuing PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His research primarily focuses on enhancing radar performance through digital beamforming algorithms and using multiple reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). His work includes improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) using RIS-assisted radar, utilizing radar signatures for micro-Doppler applications, and addressing challenges in GPS spoofing.

Salman's academic journey has been marked by numerous achievements and recognitions. He graduated with a Bachelor of Avionics Engineering from the College of Aeronautical Engineering, NUST, Pakistan, in 2010, where he was awarded the Best Avionics System Design and later completed his MS in Avionics Engineering at Air University, Pakistan in 2019, securing a gold medal for his academic performance. He is a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, UK, and a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, UK.

Salman has been recognized for his contributions to the aerospace and electronic systems domain. He won third prize at the USM three-minute thesis competition in 2022 and was awarded the IEEE Signal Processing Society Scholarship in 2023 and 2024. His research paper was awarded the Best Student Paper Award at the 47th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing in 2024. He has also won the IEEE R10 Student Research Paper Contest in Communications, Signal Processing, and Networking in 2024.

Beyond academia, he has actively contributed to student leadership as the Vice President of the Electrical Engineering Postgraduate Society at USM. He has participated in ventures such as the Falling Walls Lab 2024 in Kuala Lumpur. He actively participates in extracurricular activities, is a skilled swimmer, and plays netball and cricket, demonstrating his approach to maintaining a well-rounded lifestyle through leadership in sports.
