Eleonora Botta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo (UB), NY, where she directs the Space Systems Dynamics and Control Lab. She received a B.Eng. degree in Aerospace Engineering, an M.S. degree in Space Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (2018).
Dr. Botta’s research interests are in dynamics and controls for space applications, tethered satellite systems, and spacecraft trajectory optimization. She teaches courses in orbital mechanics, dynamics, and vibrations.
Dr. Botta received the Amelia Earhart Fellowship in 2015, the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Early Career Teacher of the Year Award in 2022, and the UB President Emeritus and Mrs. Meyerson Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching and Mentoring in 2023. She a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and a member of the American Astronautical Society (AAS). She serves as the Chair of the AIAA Space Tethers Technical Committee and is a member of the AAS Space Flight Mechanics Committee.
