Event Summary: I gave a presentation on the uses of AI in complex RF systems. I described cognition, and the role of situation assessment, optimization, and reinforcement learning to perform in-mission learning. I showed how traditional ML pipelines are insufficient for cognitive systems because learning happens from minimal data after deployment to end users. Therefore evaluation must assure the learning process, not just the final model. The audience was primarily electrical engineering graduate students, with a few faculty and interested entrepreneurs.
