UK and Ireland Section Chapter Support the Electromagnetic Systems Interest Group 6th ASPIRE Workshop

On the 2nd of April 2025, at the Alan Turing Institute in London, the Electromagnetic Systems Interest Group (www. emsig.org.uk) has organised the 6th Workshop of its Advanced Signal Processing for Radar and EW focus group. The workshop was supported by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society and kindly hosted by Dr Daniel Mannion of the Alan Turing Institute (ATI). The focus group, chaired by Prof. Clemente from the University of Strathclyde and Dr Mohammed Jahangir from the University of Birmingham is aimed at bringing together academics, industrialists, and potential end-users working on the development of signal processing techniques and artificial intelligence for radar sensing and electronic warfare. To achieve this objective it organises yearly, free to attend and friendly workshops where young and affirmed researchers and engineers could discuss openly about the current trends in the sector. 

This year’s focus group was very well attended and oversubscribed, with over 55 in person attendees and over 15 on-line. The workshop hosted 12 presentations, 10 posters and many fruitful discussions about leading edge techniques, such as small target detection in sea clutter, machine learning and AI for radar and RF signals classification, cognitive jamming, quantum and quantum enabled radars among many other interesting topics. 

The EMSIG is a non-profit community of practice based in the UK, voluntarily formed, run and managed by the Radar/RF community and the support of the IEEE AESS was fundamental to make possible the event this year.
