Vince Socci at Aurora Flight Sciences
Host: Aurora Flight Sciences (A Boeing Company)- 314 Main Street, Cambridge, MA
Event Format: In-Person
Event Summary: The IEEE AESS Boston Section is engaging in a number of initiatives to better connect University professors and students with industry. To guarantee students' attendance we strategically hosted this IEEE meeting in Cambridge at Aurora Flight Sciences. As a result we had indeed an exceptional attendance of MIT graduate students who lively participated to the lecture. The lecturer was very pleased and energized by the conversation following the presentation.
The Distinguished Lecture focused on drone technologies, operations, regulations, and business applications. While there are efforts towards developing UAVs with Level 1,2,3 and 4 Autonomy, today we still need to learn, understand, and properly use a drone in order to become successful operators. The FAA maintains rules for drone registration, pilot licensure, and operation.
Our IEEE AESS Distinguished Lecturer, Vince Socci, provided an insightful orientation on the topic, extremely well received by the audience. Questions and followup discussion lasted for over an hour after the end of the lecture!
