Event Summary: A joint IEEE Distinguished Lecturer event was hosted at Kenyatta University on 12 March 2025 with distinguished lecturers from Prof. Ahmed H. Madian of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), Prof. Sang Bin Lee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), Prof. Mohan Trivedi of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), Prof. Reyhan Baktur of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS), and Prof. Warren du Plessis of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society all presenting.
The event also marked the launch of the IEEE AESS Kenyatta University Branch.
On 13 March 2025, Prof. Baktur and Prof. du Plessis travelled to the South Eastern Kenya University to give additional presentations on different topics. This visit included a visit to the Vice Chancellor's office. The other distinguished lecturers also presented to multiple forums during the week.
At both events, the enthusiasm and genuine interest of the audience were palpable. In both cases, attendees asked the presenters to pose for numerous photographs after the formal events concluded.
Throughout the entire visit, tremendous enthusiasm for the IEEE was demonstrated with both the distinguished lecturers and audience members travelling significant distances to participate in the relevant events. The significant value of IEEE membership in bringing people with shared interests together was both demonstrated and emphasized throughout the proceedings.
