Algeria Section Chapter Hosts First National Day on Aerospace Technologies & Electronic Systems
The First National Day on Aerospace technologies and Electronic Systems (AESS'25) - Algeria Section Chapter took place on February 26, 2025, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sciences and Technology of Oran (USTO-MB). The targeted audience included IEEE members, researchers, students, professionals from the aerospace and electronic systems industry, and academic partners. The objectives were to officially launch the IEEE AESS Chapter, discuss the Chapter's objectives and benefits, promote research and innovation in aerospace and electronic systems; strengthen ties between IEEE members in the region; and develop technical activities and collaborative projects.
The event started with welcome remarks by Dr. Mohamed Della Krachai, Chair of the AESS Algeria Chapter, following with additional remarks form the Dean of the faculty of engineering and a representative from the Rector of the university. Several technical briefs then followed, and included (1) Control and Supervision of a Two-Wheel Drive Rolling Robot, by Professor Mustapha Benghanem, (2) IEEE Article Writing, by Dr. Riyad Bouddou, (3) Inertial Navigation, by Dr. Houari Aoued, (4) Power Electronics Applications, by Dr. Aimer Fethi, and (5) Target Tracking using fast IMM, by Professor Mohamed Dahmani. Student project presentations were made during lunch, and an IEEE AESS student perspective on the event was presented by Kodjo Fagbedjinou. The closing ceremony included the distribution of certificates to participants and awarding prizes for best project.
Scientific partners included the Signals and Image Laboratory (LSI), the Aeronautics and Propulsion Systems Laboratory (LASP), and the Oran Astronomy Association (CLS).
