On the 2nd of April 2025, the Australian Capital Territory Section Chapter of AESS was given an excellent talk by John Saxon, one of the pioneers in the NASA ground station support network here in Australia. He talked about the key role that the Honeysuckle Creek tracking station near Canberra, Australia played in early space missions, including the first moon landing and the famous video of the first human footsteps on the moon. It is an account of John's personal experiences and observations about the historic events of the time. The talk provides insights to some of the behind the scenes events which are not widely known. A recording of the event has been posted to YouTube.
