Conference Recap: 2025 IEEE International Radar Conference
The 2025 IEEE International Radar Conference, themed “Radar in All Domains – From Highways to Space,” took place in Atlanta, Georgia from May 3-9, 2025. The event brought together 405 attendees from 23 countries, supported by 21 corporate sponsors. Attendees participated in a robust technical program and various networking events, including an Opening Reception, an Exhibitor’s Reception, and a Banquet Dinner.
Technical Program & Highlights
The conference featured a comprehensive technical program with 24 Lecture Sessions, 2 Poster Sessions, 14 Tutorial Sessions, 5 Plenary Talks, and an Industry Panel. The daily plenary talks covered diverse topics such as automotive radar, commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR), radar research in Australia, the integration of radar and communications, and passive radar.
A key highlight was the Radar Boot Camp (RBC), which offered a hands-on experience through integrated lectures and laboratory demonstrations. The RBC included 11 lectures from radar experts and 8 experiments using X-band phased-array hardware and software provided by Analog Devices and MathWorks.
The Banquet Dinner at the Georgia Aquarium served as another major highlight, providing a unique and memorable setting for networking and celebrating achievements within the radar community. The aquarium's stunning backdrop created an awe-inspiring atmosphere for the evening.
Student Awards & Recognition
The conference recognized promising students through two key initiatives: the IEEE Michael C. Wicks Radar Student Travel Grant and the Student Paper Competition.
Student Travel Grant
The 2025 IEEE Michael C. Wicks Radar Student Travel Grant was awarded to six graduate students to provide travel support for their participation. The recipients, who were primary authors of papers on radar signal processing, were:

Student Paper Competition
The Student Paper Competition recognized outstanding technical contributions from individual students. The finalists presented their work to a panel of judges, and the winners were:
- 1st Place: Callin A. Schone (University of Oklahoma) for “Reduced-Dimension Reiterative Superresolution”
- 2nd Place: Sean J. Kearney (North Carolina State University) for “Semantic Segmentation Guided RF Micro-Doppler Synthesis and UAV Classification in Low SINR”
- 3rd Place: Sultanus Salehin (North Carolina State University) for “Radar-based Online Learning of Human Skeleton Keypoints without any Prior Real Data”
