We are thrilled to share that the Triage Drone Team, a project AESS proudly funded, was selected as the Best Senior Design Project out of seven in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Tennessee Tech.

The team, Gabriel Buckner, Mathias Hagewood, Chris Bradley, Reese Gilbert, and Caleb Bucher, developed a groundbreaking autonomous drone system designed to assist emergency responders by remotely assessing injury severity in hazardous environments. Equipped with a microphone, camera, and doppler radar, the drone can detect sounds of distress, monitor breathing patterns, and transmit real-time triage data via Wi-Fi.

Despite a tight budget, weight constraints, and the challenge of creating a system that meets healthcare privacy standards, the team overcame numerous technical hurdles and delivered an impressive final presentation.

We congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing where this innovative solution goes next.
