The IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) student chapter at R N S Institute of Technology brought energy, creativity, and technical excellence to LUMINUS 2026 through two standout events: ElectraForge and Electro-Quiz: Circuitrix. Designed to challenge both knowledge and application, these events captured the true spirit of engineering in action.

Electro-Quiz: Circuitrix

Circuitrix offered participants a dynamic, multi-round experience that blended theory, creativity, and hands-on problem-solving.

The event began with a technical quiz that tested participants’ understanding of core electrical and electronics concepts. From there, the competition shifted into a unique round titled “Beg, Borrow & Steal,” where teams were challenged to think quickly and creatively, gathering resources and strategizing under pressure.

The final round brought the excitement to its peak: a circuit-building challenge. Teams translated their ideas into functioning circuits within a limited time, demonstrating not only technical proficiency but also teamwork and adaptability. The progression of rounds ensured that participants were evaluated across a wide range of skills, making Circuitrix both engaging and intellectually stimulating.

While Circuitrix tested breadth, ElectraForge focused on depth and endurance. This six-hour wiring hackathon pushed participants to fully immerse themselves in real-world engineering challenges.

Working in teams, participants were tasked with designing and implementing circuits based on problem statements. The extended format allowed for deeper exploration, requiring teams to troubleshoot, iterate, and refine their designs in real time. Collaboration was key, as participants combined their knowledge and skills to bring solutions to life.

The atmosphere throughout ElectraForge reflected a strong sense of innovation and determination. The event not only reinforced technical concepts but also encouraged resilience, critical thinking, and effective teamwork—qualities essential to any successful engineer.

Fostering the Next Generation of Engineers

Together, ElectraForge and Circuitrix exemplified the mission of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society: to inspire, engage, and support the next generation of engineering professionals. By combining competition with collaboration, these events created meaningful learning experiences that extended beyond the classroom.

LUMINUS 2026 proved to be more than just a technical fest, it was a platform for innovation, connection, and growth. The AESS chapter at RNS Institute of Technology continues to demonstrate how student-led initiatives can create impactful opportunities for aspiring engineers to learn, build, and lead.
