On March 22, 2024, the University of Pisa (UNIPI), Italy, held the workshop COSS- Communication and Sensing in Space, organized by the Master Programs on Telecommunication Engineering and on Aerospace Engineering. The event has been sponsored by AIDAA, the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and by the AESS Italian Chapter.

After a short introduction by Maria Sabrina Greco, AESS President, Filippo Giannetti, Salvo Marcuccio, and Nicola Acito, professors with UNIPI, the workshop featured a poster session that included 20 posters, presented by master and PhD students.

The participation was large and very active, with more than 100 attendees, undergraduate and graduate students, happy to learn from their senior colleagues about the new research on radar, remote sensing, navigation, and communication in space. The topics of the posters spanned from the design of precipitation measurement systems, to the detection of targets in infrared images, from the design of satellite 6G network architectures, to the development of tethered balloon platforms, to altitude platform navigation with AI techniques. Overall, the event was a great success!
