Scope

The Avionics Systems Panel (ASP) is a Technical Panel of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS). The Panel monitors, analyzes and supports industry and government activities that impact the future of aviation and space operations, such as the ICAO, RTCA/EUROCAE and AEEC standardization activities, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NextGen program, the European Union (EU) Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) program, the NASA Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) initiatives, the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking in Unmanned Systems (JARUS) automation working group, the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) activities, and the NOAA Office of Space Commerce Space Situation Awareness and Space Traffic Management (SSA/STM) policy developments. The Panel also supports activities related to the social, environmental, and economic impact analysis of aviation and space systems, with emphasis on the industrial uptake of digital aerospace technologies (e.g., cyber-physical systems and AI for trusted automation and autonomous flight).
