Term

Conditions of Eligibility
AESS Member and Sensors Council Member (free).
Primary Responsibilities
- Represent AESS on the IEEE Sensors Council with one primary (voting) representative on the Administrative Committee (AdCom), appointed by AESS.
- Actively participate in AdCom meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes that shape the Council’s policies, initiatives, and activities.
- Engage in at least one Sensors Council committee, contributing to its mission and operations.
- Serve as a liaison between AESS and the Sensors Council, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
- Stay informed about the Sensors Council’s mission, goals, policies, and programs by reviewing governing documents available on the Sensors Council website at ieee-sensors.org.
- Support technical and strategic initiatives, including collaboration on conferences, publications, and standards development.
Identify and nominate candidates for open positions within the Council.
Travel
- Travel is required at least the Spring (INERTIAL) or Fall (SENSORS) AdCom meetings.
- Travel expenses for representatives are the responsibility of AESS and are reimbursed per the IEEE Expense Guidelines.
Expected Meeting Attendance
- Attend two Sensors Council AdCom meetings per year:
- Spring Meeting (held with INERTIAL) – In-person participation encouraged.
- Fall Meeting (held with SENSORS) – In-person or virtual attendance required.
- If the primary representative cannot attend, the secondary representative should take their place to ensure AESS participation.
- If neither representative can attend in person, virtual attendance by at least one representative is expected.
