Fellows Cohort Committee Chair

Appointed by the Fellows Evaluation Committee Chair. Can be the same as the FEC Chair.

Term

  • 1-year term, renewable once for a total of 2 consecutive years.
  • Chair may serve an additional 2 years on the committee as a member for a total of 4 consecutive years.

Conditions of Eligibility

  • Must be an active IEEE Fellow.
  • Must be an active member of the relevant Cohort (i.e. AESS member).
  • Cannot serve as a Nominator, Reference, or Endorser for Fellow nominees within their cohort.
  • Cannot be a member of the IEEE FC or IEEE Board of Directors

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact with IEEE Fellow Activities staff.
  • Organizes meetings and assigns evaluators to nominees, ensuring proper in-field and out-of-field evaluations.
  • Does not perform evaluations or score nominees.
  • Ensures members are trained and comply with IEEE policies.
  • Submits CFEC evaluation reports via the IEEE web application.

Travel

  • May need to attend in-person meetings depending on IEEE Fellow Committee requirements.
  • The IEEE Fellow Committee (IEEE FC) holds an in-person meeting in late September or early October to finalize the nomination ranking. CFEC members typically do not attend this meeting, but the Chair might be involved in certain discussions if required.

Expected Meeting Attendance

  • Is responsible for organizing meetings, but many are virtual.
  • Participation in IEEE Fellow Committee activities may involve attending in-person sessions.

Appointments
Not responsible for making any appointments. May be asked to appoint Fellows Cohort Committee Evaluators at the request of the Fellows Evaluation Committee Chair.
