Term
A 1-year term with eligibility for reappointment for up to two consecutive terms.

Conditions of Eligibility
IEEE and AESS Member. Must be a current in-term member of the AESS Board of Governors (BoG) or previously served on the Board. Must be nominated and selected by the Board of Governors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Chair Awards Committee.
  • Identifying Awards Chairs and soliciting committee members.
  • Renew periodically the composition of the AESS award committees.
  • TABARC: Responsible for preparing and coordinating updates to the TABARC Manual, ensuring compliance with TABARC in the selection process for awards, and overseeing all activities related to Society awards in accordance with IEEE policies. This includes initiating new awards, periodically revising processes to enhance governance, monitoring the selection process, notifying award winners, and leading the annual awards ceremony. Advise AESS BoG of award winners selected and get Board approval as needed.
  • Notify award winners from nominations.
  • Award Ceremonies
    • Work with Radar Conference or International Radar Conference organizers to plan the annual AESS Awards Ceremony.
    • Contact award winners and relay information concerning awards ceremonies.
    • Arrange presenters for awards ceremonies at additional conferences where AESS award recipients are being recognized to represent AESS.
  • Coordinate purchase and design of awards.
  • Revise and restructure award applications as needed.
  • Review and update website pages as needed.
  • Prepare a report and attend the annual Officer Strategic Planning meeting and at the AESS BoG meetings in the Spring and Fall.

Travel
Minimum 3 times per year
Travel expenses are reimbursed per the IEEE Expense Guidelines.

  • January/February: Strategic Planning Meeting with Officers
  • ~May: Spring Board of Governors Meeting and attend the AESS Awards Ceremony typically held at the spring RadarConf or RADAR. 
  • ~September-November: Fall Board of Governors Meeting
  • Additional travel may be requested by the AESS President or for participation in various IEEE appointments and committees, typically held in conjunction with the IEEE Meeting Series held in February, June, and November annually
