Event Summary: Based on the DL “Advances in Digital Avionics and Space Systems,” this DL highlighted the critical role of AI-driven systems in transforming air and space transport for safer, efficient, and sustainable operations. Integrated CNS+A architectures leverage AI-based 4-Dimensional Trajectory Optimization algorithms, enhanced surveillance, and adaptive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI2) to automate aircraft intent validation and enhance Air Traffic Management (ATM). AI is key to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) advancements, enabling navigation, communication, and Sense-and-Avoid (SAA) capabilities for unrestricted airspace access. In space transport, AI-powered tools like mission planning and decision support systems integrate reusable space vehicles into modern ATM networks, ensuring safety and scalability. Challenges with autonomous systems in suborbital spaceflight integration, alongside regulatory evolution, demand AI-driven solutions for risk assessment, debris mitigation, and operational frameworks. A Multi-Domain Traffic Management (MDTM) framework is essential for fully integrating air and space domains.
