Event Summary: As the NASA (together with China and other countries) is returning to the Moon, potential networking technologies for reliable data/file transmission are being studied in Moon-Earth communications. Dr. Ruhai Wang, an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, presented an DL talk on Reliable Data Transmission in Moon-Earth Communications in the IEEE Beaumont Section Fall Meeting 2025. Dr. Wang presented a comparative overview of the data transmission mechanisms that are suitable for reliable cislunar data/file delivery with focus on the TCP-based, UDP-based and relatively new disruption-tolerant transmission mechanisms. Around fifty people attended the talk. The talk aligned directly with our mission to inspire future engineers through forward-looking topics that connect classroom learning to real-world innovation.
