Primary Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight:
    • Ensure the smooth operation and administration of the AESS Distinguished Lecturers (DL) Program.
    • Collaborate with the VP Education to perform an annual review of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Distinguished Lecturer Program Guidelines.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the program, recommending improvements to enhance accessibility, engagement, and overall impact.
  • Outreach and Promotion:
    • Promote the DL Program to AESS chapters, members, and external audiences, highlighting available lectures and the value of participation.
  • DL Requests:
    • Assess and recommend to the VP Education for the approval for Distinguished Lecturer presentations, ensuring compliance with DL Program policies and financial guidelines and adherence to DL Program financial policies, including travel reimbursement and funding limits.
    • Communicate with individuals and organizations submitting DL requests, providing guidance and support as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of DL presentation requests and their status, with assistance from the Operations Manager as necessary.
  • Renewals and Applications:
    • Completed every other year
    • Evaluate Distinguished Lecturer renewal and new applications in collaboration with the Education Committee.
    • Provide informed recommendations on DL appointments and renewals to the VP Education.
  • Virtual DL Program Oversight:
    • Appoint and oversee a Virtual DL Program Chair to manage the Virtual Distinguished Lecturers (VDL) program, or serve as the VDL Chair if preferred.
