Term
A 1-year term with eligibility for reappointment for up to two consecutive terms.
Conditions of Eligibility
IEEE and AESS Member. Must be a current in-term member of the AESS Board of Governors (BoG) or previously served on the Board. Must be nominated and selected by the Board of Governors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the overall financial affairs of the Society.
- Prepare, with the help of the various Officers and Committees, the annual Society Budget, and monitor performance to budget.
- Observe the financial operations of the Society and take appropriate action to see that money is spent wisely and in the best interests of the Society.
- Chair Finance Committee
- Prepare, review, and submit annual budgets to IEEE.
- Coordinate with journal Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) and VP Publications to establish page budgets.
- Review financial support requests to ensure they align with the Society’s budget.
- Review and update website pages and financial resources as needed.
- Prepare a report and attend the annual Officer Strategic Planning meeting and at the AESS BoG meetings in the Spring and Fall.
Travel
Minimum 3 times per year
Travel expenses are reimbursed per the IEEE Expense Guidelines.
- January/February: Strategic Planning Meeting with Officers
- ~May: Spring Board of Governors Meeting
- ~September-November: Fall Board of Governors Meeting
- Additional travel may be requested by the AESS President or for participation in various IEEE appointments and committees, typically held in conjunction with the IEEE Meeting Series held in February, June, and November annually.
- The VP Finance may be requested to attend the IEEE Treasures Workshop in Piscataway, NJ at the IEEE Headquarters typically held around April annually.
