Conditions of Eligibility
AESS Member and Systems Council Member (free).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Represent AESS on the IEEE Systems Council (SYSC) with a primary (voting) and secondary (non-voting) representative to the AdCom, serving a two-year term with a renewal option for a total of four years.
  • Engage in SYSC activities by attending meetings, serving on at least one SYSC committee, and acting as a liaison between AESS and the Systems Council.
  • Understand SYSC’s mission, goals, policies, and programs; review governing documents available on the SYSC website; and perform duties responsibly.
  • Suggest nominees for open positions, take on leadership roles, and contribute actively to Council initiatives.

Travel

  • Travel to in-person AdCom meetings is encouraged, but virtual attendance is acceptable if necessary.
  • Make every effort to attend the annual IEEE International Systems Engineering Conference in North America, where at least one AdCom meeting is held in person.
  • Travel expenses for representatives are the responsibility of AESS and are reimbursed per the IEEE Expense Guidelines.

Expected Meeting Attendance

  • Attend the Spring and Fall AdCom meetings, with in-person participation encouraged. If the primary representative cannot attend, the secondary should take their place. If neither can attend in person, virtual participation by at least one representative is expected.
  • Participate in additional AdCom meetings and activities as required, ensuring continued engagement in Council affairs.
