Primary Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight:
    • Manage and maintain the Virtual Distinguished Lecturer (VDL) Program, ensuring alignment with AESS objectives and IEEE guidelines with the DL Chair and VP Education
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the VDL Program, recommending improvements to enhance accessibility, engagement, and overall impact.
  • Outreach and Promotion*:
    • Promote the VDL Program to AESS chapters, members, and external audiences, highlighting available lectures and the value of participation.
  • Scheduling*:
    • Facilitate virtual lectures by coordinating with Distinguished Lecturers and hosts to provide up to one VDL per week from March-December.
    • Ensure that each VDL has an AESS host (note, the Operations Manager does not serve in this capacity but can assist with reaching out to the Education Committee members or BoG members upon request)
  • Platform Management:
    • Ensure the effective use of virtual lecture platforms, including managing technical logistics and addressing challenges.
  • Lecture Library Maintenance:
    • Develop and maintain a repository of recorded VDL sessions to provide ongoing access to past presentations.
  • Support:
    • Assist Distinguished Lecturers in adapting their presentations for virtual delivery, ensuring an engaging and professional experience.
  • Host/Moderator of Live Lecturers:
    • Introduce the speaker and provide a brief overview of the AESS mission and activities using AESS overview slides.
    • Serve as the moderator during Q&A sessions, facilitating audience interaction and ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Reporting and Metrics:
    • Track webinar registration, attendance, and location of attendees.

Is not required for this position.

Expected Meeting Attendance
Education Committee Committee Meetings as requested (virtual).
