Term
A 1-year term with eligibility for reappointment for up to two consecutive terms.

Conditions of Eligibility
IEEE and AESS Member. Must be a current in-term member of the AESS Board of Governors (BoG) or previously served on the Board. Must be nominated and selected by the Board of Governors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate society activities related to training and continuing education for members and other professionals in the AESS technical fields of interest approved by the Board of Governors.
  • Work with society chapters, Technical Panels, and Conference Committees to develop and execute programs that will enhance the professional capabilities of present and potential society members.
  • Chair Education Committee
  • Distinguished Lecturer Program: Manage the renewal process for existing DLs. Solicit and review applications for new DLs. Review and approve DL requests. Request and review post-event reports from DLs. Oversee the Virtual DL (VDL) program. The responsibilities of the DL and VDL programs may be delegated to their respective positions.
  • Collaborate with the IEEE Learning Network.
  • Maintain an online library of recorded resources.
  • Oversee the Short Course Program and Chair.
  • Manage the Radar Challenge Program in coordination with RadarConf.
  • Awards: Oversee the Robert Hill Best Dissertation Award, including the appointment of the chair and committee members, solicitation of nominations, and selection of the awardee. Oversee the AESS Engineering Scholarship Program, including the appointment of the chair and committee members, solicitation of nominations, and selection of the scholarship recipients.
  • Review and update website pages as needed.
  • Prepare a report and attend the annual Officer Strategic Planning meeting and at the AESS BoG meetings in the Spring and Fall.

Travel
Minimum 3 times per year
Travel expenses are reimbursed per the IEEE Expense Guidelines.

  • January/February: Strategic Planning Meeting with Officers

  • ~September-November: Fall Board of Governors Meeting
